    Following a significant project win within Dublin on a major rail infrastructure project my client are looking to recruit to our growing Irish consultancy business.

    This project win is in addition to our already impressive portfolio of projects within other business sectors that has positioned the company as one of Irelands leading consultants.

    The Rail Division has a large portfolio of diverse projects throughout the world with approximate 500 engineers already working within the Rail environment. The continued development of the rail business gives a unique opportunity to develop a career within a major international consultancy business

    Key role objective
    To undertake project work involving all elements of tunnelling issues, either working as the expert within that field as part of a multi-disciplinary team, or as a sole consultant providing high quality advice to clients. there would be the need to support bids with technical input


    Key areas of responsibility
    • lead and manage project teams
    • assist with the development of more junior engineers
    • design of tunnels and underground structures
    • production of design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings, covering a range of project requirements from new build to modification, maintenance and refurbishment
    • support senior management in business and technical development

    Key requirements
    • range of technical and managerial capabilities with in-depth knowledge in cover bored tunnel design, cut & cover design, stations and shafts in soft ground or rock conditions
    • understanding of different construction methods and effects on design. Structural design of RC and steel sections
    • able t o produce Risk Assessments and Specifications
    • excellent inter-personal and negotiation skills are essential, with the ability to understand and present others' points of view
    • self motivated and able to work under own initiative
    • a high degree of oral and written communication skills is required; ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and lucid way to all levels
    • innovative engineer looking to develop technical and management skills and willing to tackle any challenge
    • it would be useful if candidates also had experience in preparation of bid documents
    • preferably candidates should be able to select and develop methods for solutions to non-standard problems
    • team player, able to advise on cost, time, build ability and sustainability

    Minimum qualifications The ideal candidate should be a chartered engineer with BEng/ MEng honours degree in civil engineering or equivalent and be able to demonstrate the following skills

    Salary €50000 - €81000 / Yearly
    Level Third Level Degree
