The role of the Project Manager is to drive assigned projects through from conception to early validation. The Project Manager will take responsibility for the establishment, discussion, processing and delivery of customer projects.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: The job holder will -
* Be responsible for the delivery of client projects, either in generic cancer research or specific companion diagnostics in collaboration with the appropriate internal departments / groups.
* Manage the planning, design, conduct and reporting of projects within genomic services.
* Liaise with customers to ensure processing, transport and receipt of samples and / or data by the appropriate personnel in Our Client Diagnostics.
* Be able to communicate project results, both verbally and by writing to customers and attend customer meetings, conferences etc. where required.
* Liase directly with Core Technology Lab and relevant bioinformatician(s) to ensure timely lab processing, analysis and delivery of customer projects.
* Liase with the R&D Tech Lab to ensure up-to-date methodologies are available and that required technologies are made available.
* Liase with bioinformatics to ensure that required analysis strategies and software are available for customer projects.
* Identify required resource and establish and manage the team for any given project Be responsible for costing of a project in conjunction with the sales staff.
* Organise and lead regular project team meetings to facilitate decision-making processes
* Own and manage the communication of each project both internally and externally
* Ensure all project documentation is maintained appropriately in accordance with regulatory requirements.
* Report to Operations Manager on a regular basis and present project overviews to other managers and / or senior management upon request.
* Liase with Production Project Team Manager for handover and subsequent required clarification on all successful proof-of-principal companion diagnostic projects.
* Actively interact with internal and external scientific community ensuring an up-to-date scientific knowledge in line with company strategy.
* Be able to travel to meet with customers to discuss pre-, in progress, and post-project matters.
* Liaise closely with sales and marketing staff, being available for a weekly overview of project progress, invoicing and customer feedback.
* Ensure compliance with regulations, relevant SOPs and quality systems.
* Liase with Quality Department and be familiar with the Quality Manual to ensure correct documentation and SOPs are in place and report non-conformities to ensure continual improvement
The successful candidate will have a post-graduate degree in a life sciences discipline (MSc / PhD) with clear, demonstrable experience in project management within the pharmaceutical and / or biotech sectors. The candidate must have a clear understanding of the project lifecycle and its application to a variety of project types, with experience of project management related software and tools. Previous experience of managing genomic-based projects would be advantageous. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential. A flexible, enthusiastic approach to work, along with a willingness to learn new skills are also crucial for this role.
